Working with the European Scout Region

Many of the Member Organisations belonging to the Europe Region WAGGGS also belong to the European Scout Region and therefore there are many areas which are common to the two Movements and projects on which we can work together.

Recommendations for the joint work of the two Regions are made by Member Organisations at the European Guide and Scout Conference, which takes place at the same time as the European Guide Conference. Following the last Conference in Prague in 2001, a joint plan has been produced, identifying a number of different events and seminars that will take place during the current triennium and a number of different tools and resources which will be created to support the work of Associations in the Region.

The joint work of the two Regions is managed by the Co-ordinating Group, which comprises of the Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of the Europe Committee WAGGGS and the European Scout Committee, and the Regional Executive and Director of the Europe Office WAGGGS and the European Scout Office. The Europe Committee WAGGGS and the European Scout Committee also meet together twice a year.

After the meeting of the two Committees, a joint Chairman’s Letter is sent to Associations describing the progress of the joint work between the two Regions. The two regions also produce EUROPAK - a monthly mailing to Associations giving news of seminars and events taking place in both Regions. Information on events taking place in both Regions can also be found in the ‘Overview of Seminars and Events’ which is also produced jointly by both Regions.

The Europe Region WAGGGS and the European Scout Region work together on external issues affecting Guiding and Scouting. Regular meetings are held between individuals representing both organisations at European level, so that we can better influence and contribute to issues affecting young people living in Europe today.
