WAGGGS believes that Associations can only fulfil WAGGGS’ Mission and deliver effective and good quality educational programmes if the Structure and Management of their organisation is functioning well. As well as the other requirements of membership, WAGGGS also requires Associations to be self-governing, free to formulate its own policy and to put it into practice, independent of any political organisation or political party, and democratic.

Within the Europe Region WAGGGS there are a variety of structures and management styles, depending on the size and culture of the specific Association. The Region works with Associations to ensure whatever their structure and management style, their organisation has clear communication, good leadership and that volunteers and staff work together in an effective way so that they can meet their goals and achieve WAGGGS’ Mission.

Staff and volunteers from the Europe Region WAGGGS work with Associations on such issues such as strategic planning, the development of democratic structures and the implementation of systems and procedures, through visits and by telephone and e-mail. Supporting Associations to develop strategies for change management and succession planning are particular priorities for the Europe Region during the current triennium. The Region also organises specific events on particular issues to help Associations in these areas, such as the recent training on Project Management for Member Organisations in the CIS countries.

The European Strategies for Growth Group also provides assistance on strategic planning for designated countries in consultation with the Europe Committee WAGGGS.
