National
Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts of Armenia "Astgik"
Girl Guiding in Armenia was founded in 1996. The NAGGGS "Astgik"
has been active since 1996 and was authorised by the Ministry of Justice
in
December 1998. After that Astgik has developed very quickly - they
received Associate membership of WAGGGS at the World Conference in
Manila in 2002.
Currently Astgik has 1002 members in 9 regions. The programme of Astgik
is based on three different age branches: 6-10, 11-15 and 16-20 years
and offers 9 different themes and many special programmes for girls
and young women.
The Association has carried out many projects on different areas.
Just one which took place in 2002 was called "Peace of Caucasus
by the hand of women". This project concentrated on international
co-operation, intercultural learning and conflict resolution among
youth NGOs in Caucasian Region."
The Association holds its National Conference every year. For more
